Director’s Message
The Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre was started as per the directive of the Honourable Supreme Court of India to provide advanced tertiary level super-specialty care to the people affected by the Bhopal Gas Tragedy (1984) as well as to extend its services to the public at large.
The patients are referred to the main hospital through the medical outreach primary health care programme (health care delivery at the door steps) of the eight Health Centres of BMHRC which are situated at various gas affected areas of Bhopal at Kainchi Chhola, Station Bajaria, Chandbad, Teela Jamalpura, Ginnori, Jahangirabad, Karond and Bal Vihar.
The Health Centres are well equipped to provide emergency care and preventive, curative, restorative, rehabilitative treatment. These Centres provide basic investigations including hematological and biochemical tests, along with plain X-rays and ECGs. Medicines are dispensed at the units to both new and follow up patients.
The main hospital is 357-bedded and houses the departments of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Medical Gastroenterology, Microbiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, Research, Surgical Gastroenterology, Surgical Oncology, Transfusion Medicine, and Urology to cater to the needs of the patients.
It takes a lot more than engineering and technology to make up a hospital. A team of diligent and dedicated highly qualified medical professionals, including specialist and super specialists, ably supported by efficient nursing and paramedical staff provide primary and tertiary health care.
Teaching facilities in BMHRC include a Nursing college and a Paramedical institute. A DNB course in Anaesthesiology is ongoing. Multidisciplinary research is carried out by Research and Clinical faculty.
The faculty and staff of BMHRC, Bhopal, are very committed. I am confident that the institute will progress tremendously, with the hard work put in by this dedicated team.
