Cardiology
The Cardiology Department, BMHRC is being evolved as a leader in the fight against cardiovascular disorders in the state of Madhya Pradesh, serving approximately 10,000 cardiovascular patients annually. The cardiology team provides advanced treatment to patients with a variety of cardiovascular disorders. An immediate response, 24 hour emergency team with a mobile intensive care unit provides speedy access in emergencies. BMHRC is fully equipped to provide both intensive and outpatient multidisciplinary, comprehensive medical care for patients with complex cardiac disorders.
It has been the first in the state of Madhya Pradesh to carry out the procedures like Coronary angioplasty, Balloon Valuloplasty, Implantation of dual chamber pacemaker, Implantation of Automatic Implantable Cardioverter, Defibrillator and non-surgical device closure of holes in the heart and interventions in new born children.
The Department of Cardiology is a 30-bed unit with a 10-bedded Coronary Care Unit (CCU). The CCU is equipped with state of the art equipment, comparable to any other tertiary care center in the world. It provides 24-hour emergency services for all cardiac ailments to gas victims as well to non gas victims. These services include primary angioplasty, a life saving procedure for opening the blocked coronary arteries while the patient is experiencing a heart attack and providing intensive coronary care services by the experienced team of doctors in MP. Elective services like exercise stress test, 24 hours Holter monitoring and Echocardiography are also carried out. The services of the department are available not only to the Bhopal gas victims but also to the population of the state at large.
The Department is the only recognized center for imparting super-specialty training to post graduate doctors in the state of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In addition, a number of doctors are sponsored by the Govt. of MP for short term training of senior medical officers.
